The Director of Global Software Development has overall responsibility for the software development activity globally.
In this key leadership position, you will oversee the planning and execution of all software development activities leading a team of software development professionals currently consisting of around 25 staff, comprised of Architecture, Development Team Leaders, full stack developers, database developers, ETL Developers and Quality Analysts that are in Canada and Colombia.
Your duties will include, but will not be limited to:
Implement a comprehensive performance management system for our organization that will be able to identify:
Knowledge, skill and competency requirements for all roles
Measurement system for each individual, team and overall organization including Balanced Scorecard KPIs
Integration of individual performance assessment process into active management of day-to-day activities such as Code Reviews, Bug cycles, release plans to create a continuous cycle for employee performance assessment and feedback.
Oversight of the software development process providing timely situation status on all Projects (Waterfall) and RoadMap (Agile) initiatives to key stakeholders on plan achievement.
You must have demonstrated experience managing multiple complex software development initiatives simultaneously working with Team Leads, Product Managers, Subject Matter Experts, QA, etc...
Establish a system of operational metrics to measure, monitor and improve project delivery and operational performance.
Assess current status against plan (Forecast vs actual) daily and weekly to stakeholders, identifying risks and mitigations.
Oversee and ensure a regular cadence of test, demo and UAT and Production releases happen, coordinating infrastructure/cloud, resources, training, and compliance (performance, security, scalability) checks and gates are included in comprehensive plans.
Partnering with Product and Account Management to define RoadMap and Project release requirements to ensure the successful delivery of new offerings and product enhancements.
Demonstrated experience managing both a Waterfall and Agile development practice and how marry the two to provide predictability whilst We believe in the Orbit Way not one methodology!
Proven experience implementing and utilizing Azure DevOps or Jira as the platform to manage our development and deployment activities.
Brings a DevOps mindset ensure all software works in a CI/CD environment and can be easily tested and deployed on-prem and cloud (Azure)
Help attract and recruit the best talent with the Orbit mindset as we grow our
Interact with Executive Leadership Team to identify areas of improvement in their environments to achieve
Accountable for the successful delivery (on-time, on-budget, with high quality) of all Software Development iterations and releases
Able to jump in from a hands-on role participating in code reviews and architectural guidance when appropriate and to ensure the highest quality and design.
Ensure the team is aligned with corporate priorities, adhering to processes and procedures, providing quality and timely development team
Implement and ensure ongoing compliance with all IT policies and
Support the platform operations team in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity efforts by contributing to the development of BCP / DRP plans, and engaging in periodic BCP / DR Test activities
Experience in various components of the Microsoft stack, including SQL Server, IIS, and Windows Server
Physical, virtual and cloud-based systems design and deployments.
Minimum 5 year's senior leadership experience (Manager level or higher).
10 years' practical experience in Software Systems Engineering, Design, Architecture roles.
Experience in a B2B SaaS environment is strongly
Minimum bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related software experience.
Demonstrated ability to lead technology professionals and a proven ability to communicate with technical and non - technical staff across multiple
Delivering excellent technical support and exceptional customer service in a global multi- client, a 7/24 environment, with ability to support on-call and emergency / escalation work requirements.
Cloud experience a definite asset (Azure preferred or AWS).
Proven experience leading an Enterprise Software B2B SaaS Product development team in MS pure stack technology with deployments across the globe.
Angular, Microsoft .Net, SQL Server, Azure.
Well-developed leadership capability including Performance Management and Measurement, Coaching and Employee
Strong knowledge of formalized software development methodologies and SDLC.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English & Spanish (verbal and written), report writing, presentation and technical
Detail oriented with the ability to communicate technical
Highly motivated and committed to achieving and accomplishing your goals.
